De Bono supports moves by major international powers to broker deals in parts of the world like the Middle East and Afghanistan which are ravaged by war. Speaking at a lunch for marketers in Dublin hosted by the Irish Daily Mail, de Bono made specific reference to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
De Bono said that one way of trying to resolve the hostilities in Gaza would be if the US was to offer the Palestinians €3 billion. Every time a rocket was fired across the border into Israel, they would automatically lose €50 million. The idea is similar to what was agreed at an international conference in London proposing that Taliban fighters in Afghanistan should be offered €500m in return for a number of assurances.
