New theatre opens without branding

The new €85 million Grand Canal Theatre in Dublin is to open next month without a naming rights partner. Designed by Daniel Libeskind, the owners of the 2,100-seater theatre had hoped to have a sponsor for its opening show of Swan Lake on March 18. Ten, the sports and entertainment sponsorship company run by Richard Tierney, is in charge of handling the naming rights process. Harry Crosbie leases the theatre from the Dublin Docklands Development Authority and Live Nation manages the venue.
